Kathy H. Abbott, Ph.D.
Government Agency Advisor (FAA)

Dr. Abbott is the Chief Scientific and Technical Advisor for Flight Deck Human Factors at the FAA. She has more than 25 years of experience with the FAA and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in aviation human factors and flight deck design research to improve aviation safety and operational efficiency.

Dee H. Andrews, Ph.D.

Dr. Andrews is the Chief Scientist of the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory in Mesa, Arizona and the Air Force’s senior scientist on issues concerning training, education and human performance improvement.  He has more than 30 years of experience in instructional systems design and education/human performance research applied to a wide variety of military domains.

Education and Pilot Advisor
Ben Berman

Mr. Berman is a pilot at Continental Airlines, a senior research associate at the San Jose State University Foundation/NASA Ames Research Center, and the chief pilot/check airman at OpenAir. Before returning to professional flying in 2001, he was on the staff of the National Transportation Safety Board for 10 years, completing his NTSB career as the Chief of the Major Investigations Division where he managed the investigations of U.S. domestic and foreign air carrier accidents.
 

Government Agency Advisor (ICAO)
Triant Flouris, Ph.D.

Dr. Flouris is the Alternate Permanent Representative for the Republic of Cyprus to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).  His collegiate aviation experience includes service as the Dean of the College of Aviation at Daniel Webster University in New Hampshire, Director of the Aviation Department at San Jose State University in California, and as a Professor with the International Aviation MBA program at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. He is the author of several well regarded books on aviation management and holds a Commercial Pilot certificate and is a Certified Flight Instructor.

William L. Rutherford, M.D.

Dr. Rutherford retired in 2000 as the Vice President, Flight Standards and Training for United Airlines, after a 30-year flying career with the company. He recently retired as a Research Professor at the College of Aviation, Western Michigan University where he leads the Center for Human Performance and Simulation Science.  He is a licensed surgeon and served as a U.S. Air Force flight surgeon.

Richard G. "Rick" Adams

Rick Adams has been one of the most influential communicators in the community of civil aviation, and military simulation and training for the past 25 years. He has managed communications for CAE and Singer-Link, the two leading companies in the field, and for 11 years served as technology editor for the market's two premier journals, Civil Aviation Training magazine and Military Simulation & Training magazine. He has also written about training for the ICAO Journal, Defense News, Armed Forces Journal International, and other respected publications.

Todd P. Hubbard, Ed.D.

Dr. Hubbard is an Associate Professor of Aerospace Education at Oklahoma State University.  He has more than 10 years of experience in instructional systems design, is the former Editor-in-Chief of the FAA’s International Journal of Aviation Research and Development, and is a retired U.S. Air Force pilot of U-2, TR-1 and KC-135 aircraft.
