Outstanding training programs recognized by PABC

PABC will soon become “the resource” that aspiring Pilots and Sponsors will use to find the high-quality Ab Initio programs that deliver the best (knowledge) training.

Ab Initio Pilot Training Providers will be recognized for the quality of their programs, if 80% or more of the graduates of their flight programs consistently score 80% or higher on PABC’s Certification Tests.

The benefits of recognition

PABC acknowledges top-quality training providers by:

Recognizing programs and providers that uphold the highest training standards.
Helping Ab Initio providers upgrade their programs for the mutual benefit of their cadets and the growth of this critically important industry.
Assisting aspiring Pilots and their funding-Sponsors to know which Ab Initio programs provide the best quality (knowledge) training for their Cadets.

NOTE: PABC’s criteria and testing focus exclusively on Pilots’ theoretical knowledge and knowledge competency, not their flying skills.

PABC’s 80%² Premier Provider recognition program

When 80% or more of an Ab Initio Provider’s graduates consistently pass PABC’s tests with scores of 80% or higher, that training program will be recognized on PABC’s website as a PABC-Recognized Premier Provider.

NOTE: This honor is given to the entire training organization, not to a specific individual.

Program criteria for the award

To be eligible for this award, Program Providers must cover PABC’s Professional Pilot training criteria in its course of studies. This ensures that each pilot has acquired the range of knowledge and related competencies needed to be well-prepared to enter Airline New Hire training.

NOTE: Those PABC Criteria include BOTH the knowledge and competency requirements defined by the FAA’s Airman Certification Standards (ACS) and PABC’s Knowledge and Competency Certification Criteria.

PABC testing offers a 4-way benefit to the industry

Airline Trainers: Managers and Instructors will be given a copy of the test results for class, so they know which topics are NOT well understood and are thereby better prepared to teach those subjects.
New Hire Pilots: Will receive a copy of their individual test results so they can improve their preparedness in each phase of the course through self-study and enquiry during class.
Ab Initio Trainers: PABC’s uses its Demographic Survey to: a) identify the Ab Initio program that each pilot attended. b) Then, PABC provides those Ab Initio Trainers with de-identified reports on their respective graduates’ test results. This process enables each Ab Initio program to identify and upgrade any blocks of training that need to be improved.
Ab Initio Trainers in-General: As aggregate results from Pilots’ tests are compiled, PABC will provide test data reports for all New Hire pilots and Instructors that help them know which topics are hard to teach and/or not well-understood by the members of that class, or both.
